Our Beliefs

Motivated by our Christian faith, Symphony Collective is committed to serving others by building inclusive, transformational communities. While our values are rooted in the Christian tradition, we are not a doctrinal or proselytising organisation. Our approach is one of practical service — shaped by shared values of dignity, equity, and care — open to people of all faiths and none.

This statement sets out the principles and practices that define our ethos. It guides how we work with young people, families, partners, and funders, and underpins every aspect of our work — from community programmes and education to leadership and funding.

Our Commitments

We will value all individuals in a way that is consistent with our distinctive Christian ethos by:

  • Serving all people equally and without discrimination.

  • Promoting dignity, inclusion, and mutual respect.

  • Collaborating with both secular and faith-based partners.

  • Managing our resources with transparency and integrity.

  • Creating spaces where individuals and communities can flourish.

How We Serve Our Community

We will provide an inclusive service to our community by:

  • Serving and respecting all people regardless of age, physical or mental capability, gender identity or reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, socio-economic background, neurodiversity, or care-experienced status.

  • Acknowledging and respecting the freedom of all people, of any faith or none, to hold and express their beliefs within the limits of UK law.

  • Never imposing our Christian faith or belief on others.

  • Developing partnerships with churches, voluntary groups, statutory agencies, and local government to create joined-up, effective services that meet real needs and avoid waste.

  • Regularly consulting with clients and the wider community to ensure our services are responsive, relevant, and inclusive.

Our Organisational Culture

We will value people by:

  • Creating environments where clients, volunteers, and employees are encouraged and enabled to realise their potential.

  • Supporting individual learning and development through training, feedback, and personal growth opportunities.

  • Fostering a culture that learns from mistakes and encourages excellence, innovation, and reflection.

  • Promoting the value of a balanced, holistic lifestyle as part of each person’s development.

  • Implementing best employment practices and upholding UK employment law to maintain our distinctive ethos.

Our Governance and Practice

We will develop a professional approach to management, practice, and funding by:

  • Implementing a participatory management structure that enables staff at all levels to contribute to our mission.

  • Setting measurable goals and regularly reviewing outcomes to ensure effective delivery and adaptability.

  • Diversifying funding sources to remain sustainable and mission-focused.

  • Upholding best practices in safeguarding, health and safety, and staff wellbeing.

  • Managing funding with transparency and accountability, with appropriate access provided to funders and partners.

  • Ensuring that all our systems and decisions ultimately serve our founding purpose: to support, empower, and uplift young people — especially those from marginalised communities — enabling them to thrive and lead.
